What PETERMAYER’s Brand Joy Lab has learned about joy, category by category. Every report leads with the answer and shows its sample size and field dates.
53% of respondents are more stressed about grocery prices than they were earlier this year, according to PETERMAYER’s Brand Joy Lab. This fall, the most craveable thing on the shelf may be the deal itself, and the flash of control that comes with catching it.
Hotels, vacation rentals, and hostels deliver nearly the same joy to people who have stayed in them, a Joy Index of 74 to 76, according to PETERMAYER’s Brand Joy Lab. The gap is trial: 9.1% of U.S. adults have stayed in a hostel and 36.0% in a vacation rental, but 41.6% and 71.3% would consider one.
Treating yourself at the grocery store scores a Joy Index of 66, the highest of any grocery moment, according to PETERMAYER’s Brand Joy Lab, and it scores nearly the same across incomes. Premium food brands sell fuel and status, yet 48.6% of snackers regularly eat to relieve stress or find comfort.
42% of respondents switched banks or considered it in the past three years, and 9% made the jump, according to a 401-person study by PETERMAYER’s Brand Joy Lab. The people most likely to switch feel behind financially but believe a great bank could change their trajectory, which gives community banks with a real story an edge.
